Turn this route into your own story

When you upload photos after the ride, these same km markers can become a nine-frame post or short video: start, first mountain reveal, mid-ride pause, castle view, reflection stop, and the Banff finish.

💡 Pro Tip: Stop at Engine Bridge (km 11) for a water refill and rest. It’s the only water stop between Canmore and Banff — no food available here, so pack your snacks!

Terrain and Elevation Profile

The route is still easy, but the old bar chart hid the feeling of the ride. This version shows the gentle climb toward Banff and where the photo stops sit on the day.

Canmore KM 11 Cascade Banff 0 km 11 km 22 km 1,350 m 1,400 m
~50 mNet gain from Canmore toward Banff. Easy enough for casual riders.
~2%Typical maximum grade. The climb is more noticeable in wind than on the legs.
KM 11Engine Bridge is the practical middle: water, rest, and a natural story pause.
KM 20Cascade Ponds gives the finish a strong visual payoff before Banff.

Vertical scale is intentionally exaggerated so the terrain is readable. In the real ride, the Legacy Trail feels mostly flat, with a gentle rise toward Banff.
